EPAA presidency will be held by ANORAAE from 2025 to 2027

EPAA presidency will be held by ANORAAE from 2025 to 2027

The EPAA is an alliance of European air forces associations, including active duty, reserve, and veteran airmen, united by the values of service, remembrance, and friendship.

Founded in Rome on December 4, 2004, by four founding nations-Belgium, France, Germany, and Italy - they all share a commitment to preserving the heritage of European military aviation, strengthening the spirit of defense, and fostering cooperation among European airmen.

The EPAA has several key missions : to promote the concept of European security and defense, particularly among young people; to support European air forces; to uphold the duty of aeronautical remembrance; and to strengthen ties of friendship between national associations.

A civilian, multinational organization of unlimited duration, its official language is English. Its emblem symbolizes its European focus, featuring a stylized wing and stars representing the founding nations.

The EPAA has opened itself up to other countries sharing the same values. The revision of its statutes in 2015 enshrines this openness: eleven nations are represented (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland), consolidating the European network of air force associations. Statutorily, the EPAA operates with a two-year rotating presidency, a Board of National Representatives (BNR), the supreme decision-making body, a Steering Committee (SC) responsible for implementing guidelines, and a Central Support Office (CSO) responsible for archives and coordination.

On October 24, 2025, the EPAA member countries decided to entrust France, through the National Association of Reserve Officers of the Air and Space Force (ANORAAE), with the EPAA presidency for the period 2025–2027. This appointment is in keeping with ANORAA’s tradition of European engagement and constitutes a recognition of the role it plays in serving the reserve, youth, and the influence of the Air and Space Force. The French presidency has a clear commitment to revitalizing this partnership. It will promote the EPAA’s openness to new European partners and strengthen the visibility of its activities. to develop projects related to remembrance, youth, and defense culture. To this end, a contact campaign is underway with all the military missions of French embassies in Europe to identify foreign associations sharing the same objectives as ANORAAE and likely to join or cooperate with EPAA.

Two major international events will structure this presidency:

• In June 2026, the celebration of ANORAAE’s centenary in Bordeaux-Mérignac will be a highlight, with a decidedly European dimension, in the presence of delegations from several partner countries;

• In June 2027, EPAA will be featured at the Paris Air Show, the world’s leading aerospace event, showcasing the role of the reserves, their veterans, and associations in building European defense.

A closer relationship with Germany, which will hold the EPAA presidency (2027–2029), will be established. It will focus on thematic areas to be defined include youth and civic engagement, shared aeronautical heritage, promotion of the reserve at the European level, and the contribution of associations to building European defense. With over twenty years of experience, the EPAA continues its development, building on the commitment of its members and the impetus provided by the French presidency. Through the actions of ANORAE, France aims to give new impetus to its 2025–2027 presidency, in order to foster openness and visibility for the European Partnership of Air Forces Associations.
